The Service

The Beacon is a new Community Wellbeing Centre providing mental health support for people in Angus.  The Beacon is located in Kirk Square, Arbroath and is open from 12 noon to 12 midnight, 7 days a week everyday throughout the year.  The service will provide support to people in contact with the centre face-to-face, by phone and through social media.  It will also provide Distress Brief Interventions and Suicide Prevention across Angus.

 

The Role

You will play a vital role in providing welcoming, empathic support to people in distress and their families.  You will use you own lived experience of mental health to provide emotional and practical support to help alleviate their distress and help them to manage their wellbeing.  You will also provide level 1 Distress Brief Intervention training to professionals and deliver suicide prevention activities in the community.

 

You Will 

You will have your own lived experience of mental health issues and willingness to share your experiences to support others. You will be compassionate, kind and able to convey these qualities when supporting people.
