Community Connector x 2, one post is based in Dundee and the other in Angus.  Please note on your application which area you are interested in.

Please Note; The Angus position requires the post holder to have a full UK driving licence and access to their own car for work purposes

Secondments will be considered for internal candidates.

 

The Service

This exciting opportunity based within Hillcrest Futures’ Recovery Services to work alongside Hillcrest Homes’ Housing Officers to provide support to Hillcrest tenants whose tenancy is at risk due to drug/alcohol use, previous homelessness or offending.  This new approach aims to identify and engage individuals who are less likely to engage with mainstream housing support and connect them to a range of support that they can benefit from and help sustain their tenancy.

 

The Role

Community Connectors will have their own lived experience of drug/alcohol recovery, homelessness or offending and be able to use this to engage and develop trusting relationships with people identified and in need of support.  Community Connectors will use a trauma informed approach to work with people and provide emotional and practical support to assist people to sustain their tenancies.  Community Connectors will have a great understanding of the supports available to people in the community and be able to connect people to these in a meaningful way.

 

The Candidate

We are looking for someone who is compassionate and wants to work with people to help develop their strengths to support their recovery.

  • You will have experience of working with people affected by drug or alcohol use, homelessness or offending
  • Warm, welcoming, approachable and able to work in a trauma informed approach
  • Have an eagerness to develop new ways of working that help to better reach out to people who find it difficult to engage in services
  • Knowledge of the issues faced by people when trying to sustain their own tenancies
  • Ability to provide emotional and practical support to help people develop their own strengths to overcome problems they face
  • Knowledge of a range of statutory and non-statutory services available to help people with their recovery
  • Experience of working in partnership with a range agencies that can provide support
  • Experience of community-based work and the ability to deliver awareness-raising and educational sessions to a range of stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well under pressure.
  • Educated to SCQF Level 7, SVQ3 or equivalent.
